The new Kindle has a 6-inch display with 300 ppi, while Amazon says page turns and book opening are around 30% faster than the previous generation.
The standard model includes 16GB of storage and offers up to six weeks of battery life. It is available in colors including Ube and Graphite.
For the first time, Amazon is also offering an upgraded 32GB Kindle with an aluminum back. The premium model is available in colors such as Alpine Sky and Seaglass Green.

Kindle Click: Amazon’s New Page-Turning Remote
One of the most unusual additions to the 2026 Kindle lineup is the Kindle Click, a small Bluetooth remote designed specifically for turning pages.
The accessory has physical controls that let readers:
- Turn to the next page
- Go back to the previous page
- Adjust the Kindle’s brightness
This means you can place your Kindle on a stand and continue reading without repeatedly reaching for the touchscreen.
The Kindle Click works with the new Kindle models as well as compatible Kindle devices released from 2024 onward. It uses USB-C for charging and is rated for up to three months of battery life.
The US price is $34.99.
Amazon is also introducing a new magnetic Page-Turn Cover with physical page-turn buttons. It is designed specifically for the new Paperwhite Signature Edition and Colorsoft Signature Edition.
The cover costs $79.99 in the US, while Amazon is also offering a dedicated charging dock for the two Signature Edition models. Current US reporting lists the dock at $59.99.

The 2026 refresh isn’t just about thinner hardware.
Amazon is expanding its color selection across the lineup, including shades such as:
- Ube
- Alpine Sky
- Seaglass Green
- Graphite
- Fig
The company is also introducing aluminum construction to more Kindle models. Amazon says the aluminum used in the new devices contains 80% recycled aluminum.
The combination of new colors and aluminum backs gives buyers more ways to distinguish the premium models from the standard plastic versions.
Amazon Also Refreshes Kindle Kids Models

The Kids versions come with:

Amazon’s 2026 Kindle Lineup: Which Models Are Available Now?
The launch is split into two stages.
The new 6-inch Kindle and 32GB aluminum Kindle are available now in the US and several other countries.
The redesigned Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Colorsoft are currently available for preorder, with US availability scheduled for October 28, 2026.

Is the 2026 Kindle Redesign a Major Upgrade?
Amazon’s 2026 Kindle generation focuses more on hardware refinement than completely new reading features.
The biggest visual change is the move to flush-front displays, while the new aluminum options make the premium models feel more substantial. The faster page-turning performance should also make navigation feel more responsive.
For Colorsoft buyers, the redesigned color display is arguably the more significant upgrade, particularly for comics, graphic novels and illustrated books.
The Kindle Click is also an interesting addition for readers who prefer using a stand or reading hands-free.
With prices starting at $149.99, Amazon is keeping the entry-level Kindle relatively accessible while offering premium options such as the $249.99 Paperwhite Signature Edition and $319.99 Colorsoft Signature Edition.
