A few years ago, when I was playing World of Warcraft during the World of Warcraft: Vanilla and World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade era, I had a habit of leaving my character logged in whenever I stepped away for a quick break between raid pulls. The goal was simple: keep my spot in the group while grabbing something to eat.

The problem was that game servers automatically disconnected inactive players after a few minutes. That meant I had to regularly return to the keyboard just to move my character slightly and avoid being kicked for inactivity.

Eventually, I discovered the in-game macro system. With a bit of scripting, it was possible to simulate small actions so the server would still consider the character active. At the time, it was a handy little trick.

Today, avoiding this kind of limitation is much easier thanks to tools known as auto clickers.

What Is an Auto Clicker?

An auto clicker is a small utility that automatically simulates mouse clicks at regular intervals. Once configured, it can perform clicks without any manual input.

These tools are commonly used to:

  • automate repetitive tasks
  • test the behavior of software or websites
  • perform repeated actions inside applications or games
  • prevent inactivity detection in certain programs

Among the many solutions available, Auto Clicker (Hobby Apps) stands out as a simple and lightweight option available directly from the Microsoft Store.

Auto Clicker: A Simple Mouse Automation Tool

Auto Clicker is a small Windows utility designed to automate mouse clicks with minimal configuration. Once the tool is set up, it can simulate clicks at specific intervals either at the current cursor position or at a fixed location on the screen.

The interface is clean and minimal, divided into three main sections.

Click Settings

The Click Settings section contains the basic configuration options, including:

  • the interval between clicks (in milliseconds)
  • the mouse button to simulate (left, right, or middle)
  • an optional delay before the click sequence starts

This allows you to fine-tune how frequently the clicks occur.

Repeat

The Repeat section controls how long the click automation should run. You can choose between:

  • infinite repetition, where the clicks continue indefinitely
  • a fixed number of clicks, which stops automatically once the target is reached

Click Position

The Click Position section determines where the simulated clicks will occur.

You can choose between:

  • Current cursor location – clicks happen wherever the mouse pointer currently is
  • Fixed screen position – clicks occur at a specific coordinate on the screen

At the bottom of the interface, a counter displays the total number of clicks performed since the program started. A large blue “Start Clicking” button launches the automation instantly.

A Few Limitations to Keep in Mind

While Auto Clicker works well overall, there are a few shortcomings worth mentioning.

The description on the Microsoft Store mentions features such as:

  • switching between single click and double click
  • customizable keyboard shortcuts

However, these options are not currently available in the latest version (1.0.0.1).

One limitation becomes particularly noticeable when using the fixed position mode. Because there is no keyboard shortcut to stop the clicker once it starts, the mouse can effectively become stuck clicking at the defined location. In that situation, the only way to stop the program is to open the Windows Task Manager and force close it.

This suggests that some features were planned but have not yet been implemented.

How to Download Auto Clicker

Auto Clicker is available for free on the Microsoft Store.

The installer itself is very small—around 1.1 MB—but once installed, the application occupies roughly 169 MB of disk space.

Because several applications share the same name, it’s recommended to download it from the official store listing to avoid installing the wrong program.

Final Thoughts

If you’re looking for a lightweight tool to automate repetitive mouse actions on Windows 11 or Windows 10, Auto Clicker is one of the easiest options available.

While the software is still fairly basic and missing a few advertised features, it does its core job well: automatically generating mouse clicks with minimal configuration. For simple automation tasks, that’s often all you need.
