REDSEC is the new free-to-play companion to Battlefield 6, designed to open the series to everyone—even those who don’t own the main game. It introduces three distinct ways to play—Battle Royale, Gauntlet, and Portal—all set in Fort Lyndon, the largest map ever built in Battlefield.
Fort Lyndon: Battlefield’s Largest and Most Destructible Map

Fort Lyndon stretches across dense urban blocks, beaches, military zones, and suburbs. Every mode unfolds here, with full environmental destruction, dynamic vehicles, and tactical mobility shaping each fight.
Helicopters, boats, and even golf carts transform the pacing of engagements and make rotations more unpredictable.
Battle Royale: 100 Players, Classic Battlefield Chaos

Battlefield’s BR pits up to 100 players—25 squads or 50 duos—against each other.
The class system returns, modified for survival gameplay, and features “Training Paths,” a match-based progression that unlocks or improves abilities as you find intel or complete objectives.
Core highlights:
- Dynamic classes: Assault and Support adapt with unique power spikes.
- In-match progression: Intel caches and side missions accelerate upgrades.
- Destructible cover: Breach, collapse, and rebuild to control the battlefield.
- High mobility: Use helicopters, boats, and runabouts for fast rotations.
- Deadly collapse: The storm circle punishes late movers—plan early.
Gauntlet: Round-Based Elimination for Squads

Gauntlet pits eight squads of four in a tournament-style gauntlet of four missions. After each round, the lowest-scoring squads are cut, while top performers carry progress forward.
| Mission Type | Objective Summary |
|---|---|
| Circuit | Capture and link control terminals. |
| Decryption | Secure beacons and hold them while they transmit data. |
| Wreckage | Plant and detonate charges on enemy M-COM sites. |
| Vendetta | Protect your HVT while hunting the enemy’s marked player. |
| Deadlock | Dominate a contested zone (King-of-the-Hill style). |
| Contract | Focus on wipes and revives—teamwork is key. |
| Extraction | Retrieve and extract data drives safely. |
| Heist | Infiltrate, steal objectives, and return them for points. |
Each session intensifies as squads adapt to rotating missions and shrinking margins for error.
Portal: Create, Remix, and Share Custom Battlefield Experiences

Portal lets players craft and share experiences using REDSEC’s assets and Fort Lyndon’s segmented playspaces.
You can alter player counts, movement speed, weapons, and health systems—and even blend Battlefield 6 content if you own the full game.
- Editable regions: Six Fort Lyndon zones (two available now; four more later).
- SDK access: REDSEC SDK supports asset editing and creation tools.
- Cross-ownership perks: Mix REDSEC and Battlefield 6 content for hybrid modes.

Modes at a Glance
| Mode | Players / Squads | Objective | Map Use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Battle Royale | 100 (25 quads / 50 duos) | Last squad standing | Full Fort Lyndon |
| Gauntlet | 32 (8 squads of 4) | Outscore and outlast through missions | Rotating slices |

Classes and Training Paths: Tactical Growth in Every Match

Each class grows within a match through Training Paths that reward exploration and intel collection.
- Assault: Faster armor/gadget cycles for constant pressure.
- Support: Starts with extra plates/ammo, scales into stronger team regen.
Squads who chase intel caches gain early advantages—but risk drawing fire from rivals hunting the same upgrades.
What’s Next for REDSEC
REDSEC evolves alongside Battlefield 6’s first season. Expect:
- More Fort Lyndon zones for Portal creators.
- SDK updates adding Gauntlet assets.
- Regular tuning, mission variety, and seasonal events.
