After buying Twitter (now X) and introducing his in-house AI assistant Grok, Elon Musk is expanding his digital empire once again. His latest venture? Grokipedia — a new AI-powered encyclopedia designed to challenge Wikipedia’s dominance.
According to Musk, Grokipedia’s mission is to “correct ideological bias” and provide a freer, more neutral version of information. The billionaire claims it will be free, open source, and truth-driven, built to “restore what’s real.”
An AI Alternative to Wikipedia
Grokipedia is the newest addition to Musk’s xAI ecosystem, the artificial intelligence company behind the Grok chatbot already integrated into X. Now, Grok has a new role — as the so-called “truth corrector.”
Musk says his AI can detect errors, omissions, or bias in Wikipedia articles and rewrite them for greater objectivity and accuracy.
“The goal of Grok and Grokipedia,” Musk stated, “is the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.”
Ambitious words — even for Elon Musk.

Nearly 900,000 Articles Already Live
Despite only launching its version 0.1, Grokipedia already boasts over 885,000 articles. The catch? Most of these are adapted directly from Wikipedia, under the Creative Commons license.
Many pages even display a disclaimer stating that their content was “revised by Grok AI.”
Currently, Grokipedia is available only in English and offers text-based content only — no images or multimedia.
Each article lists its sources, but unlike Wikipedia, users cannot directly edit the content. Instead, they can submit suggestions via a form, which Grok may later process. This means the platform trades collaboration for centralization, something that has already raised eyebrows among digital rights advocates.

What’s Next: Grokipedia 1.0
Musk has already teased a “ten times better” version 1.0, with support for more languages and expanded functionality. No timeline has been given yet, but for now, Grokipedia remains free, ad-free, and theoretically open source.
However, the source code hasn’t been released yet — it’s missing from xAI’s official GitHub and other repositories. According to posts on X, its publication is expected in the coming weeks.
A New Battle for “Truth” Online
Grokipedia could mark the start of a new era in the war over online information. Whether it becomes a revolutionary AI encyclopedia or just another Musk experiment will depend on one thing: whether Grok can truly separate truth from ideology.
For now, one thing is clear — Elon Musk wants to rewrite the internet’s knowledge base, one AI-generated article at a time.
