As time goes on, competition in the hardware world grows fiercer. Graphics cards are no exception—in fact, quite the opposite. New models are constantly being released, making it difficult to keep up unless you follow the news almost daily.
To help you get a clearer picture, we’ve decided to create a ranking of GPUs as of August 2024, divided into “tiers.” Each tier in this list corresponds to specific capabilities, which we’ll detail as thoroughly as possible.
Of course, each card within each tier doesn’t have exactly the same capabilities. Nothing can replace various benchmarks, which allow for comparing all the cards within a given range according to games and situations.

Comparison of the Best Graphics Cards for 2024
The RTX 4090, currently the most powerful card, represents 100%.
So, what is the most powerful graphics card?
The most powerful graphics card currently is the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090. It allows you to play in 4K at 120fps (with DLSS 3.0) even with the most demanding games.
S Tier Graphics Card Ranking
We start our ranking with S Tier graphics cards! These GPUs are the best you can find on the market right now.
They allow you to play AAA games in 4K (the 3090 even supports 8K display), while reaching 60 FPS most of the time. And if you decide to play in QHD, the smoothness will still be flawless.
At present, the Nvidia RTX 4090 is the best on the market (in terms of power), although the RX 7900 XTX delivers excellent results and doesn’t have much to envy. The RTX 3080 takes third place in our overall top.
Of course, you’ll need to pay the price to get one… A RTX 3080, for example, will cost you over €700.

How to Choose Your Graphics Card
I hope this ranking has helped you get a clearer idea of the current offerings. Of course, these lists are only indicative. They provide a general impression of the products and what one can expect from a card depending on its category. It is difficult to define clear limits, especially for cards that were not released this year.
After consulting this Tier List, your choice should become more refined. To do so, there are several questions to consider.
Don’t Forget Benchmarks and Comparisons
Once you’ve better understood your needs, the best thing to do is to compare the various GPU benchmarks to further refine your choice while setting a clear budget.
What Do You Really Need?
Aside from budget, to choose the right card, you need to clearly know what you plan to use it for. If you’re an online game enthusiast like Valorant, CS2, or Fortnite, your needs will be entirely different from those who only swear by AAA single-player games with ray tracing.
Most of the time, it’s better to opt for an A Tier or B Tier card, allowing you to play almost any game under acceptable conditions.
However, many players could settle for a C Tier card and save quite a bit of money!
Used Graphics Cards in 2024
Finally, note that our Tier List almost exclusively includes very recent cards, which can be found in new retail stores. However, in certain circumstances, you can find used cards that allow for excellent 1080p gaming. Don’t hesitate to do some research if that’s relevant to you. You might find a pleasant surprise.
