Ranking & Benchmarks of All Graphics Cards in 2024

As time goes on, competition in the hardware world grows fiercer. Graphics cards are no exception—in fact, quite the opposite. New models are constantly being released, making it difficult to keep up unless you follow the news almost daily.

To help you get a clearer picture, we’ve decided to create a ranking of GPUs as of August 2024, divided into “tiers.” Each tier in this list corresponds to specific capabilities, which we’ll detail as thoroughly as possible.

Of course, each card within each tier doesn’t have exactly the same capabilities. Nothing can replace various benchmarks, which allow for comparing all the cards within a given range according to games and situations.

2024 Graphics Card Ranking & Benchmark: From the Most to Least Powerful

This table ranks graphics cards released in the last five years. They are ranked according to their relative performance, meaning that the most powerful, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090, is at the top, and the least powerful at the bottom.

This ranking is based on tests conducted by professionals on 2024 graphics cards. It is a compilation of several hundred tests.

Here’s the graphics card ranking table with a “Check Price” column added:

Comparison of the Best Graphics Cards for 2024

The RTX 4090, currently the most powerful card, represents 100%.

So, what is the most powerful graphics card?

The most powerful graphics card currently is the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090. It allows you to play in 4K at 120fps (with DLSS 3.0) even with the most demanding games.

S Tier Graphics Card Ranking

We start our ranking with S Tier graphics cards! These GPUs are the best you can find on the market right now.

They allow you to play AAA games in 4K (the 3090 even supports 8K display), while reaching 60 FPS most of the time. And if you decide to play in QHD, the smoothness will still be flawless.

At present, the Nvidia RTX 4090 is the best on the market (in terms of power), although the RX 7900 XTX delivers excellent results and doesn’t have much to envy. The RTX 3080 takes third place in our overall top.

Of course, you’ll need to pay the price to get one… A RTX 3080, for example, will cost you over €700.

A Tier Graphics Card Ranking

Now let’s move on to A Tier cards. While they fall below the performance level of S Tier cards, these can still be considered high-end.

They allow you to play AAA games in 4K, but the smoothness is slightly compromised. These are best suited for QHD gaming with flawless framerate.

At the top of this list is the RX 6800, closely followed by the slightly cheaper RTX 3070. The 2080 Ti, though getting a bit dated, can still hold its own against these two competitors.

Here, prices become more reasonable. For instance, the official price of an RTX 3070 Founder’s Edition is around €500.

B Tier Graphics Card Ranking

With a B Tier GPU, you’re entering the mid-range. These graphics cards still support 4K display, but achieving viable FPS in such conditions becomes increasingly difficult.

With these cards, you can play in QHD while maintaining a very satisfactory framerate. When playing in FHD, you will exceed 100 FPS most of the time.

The queen of B Tier is probably the AMD RX 5700, which offers great performance at an unbeatable price.

Prices become much more reasonable at this tier, making them acceptable for the majority of players. For example, a RTX 5600 XT costs around €350.

C Tier Graphics Card Ranking

C Tier graphics cards are relatively low-end. Their specifications are beginning to show their age, but they still hold up. However, they shouldn’t be avoided! They can allow budget-conscious gamers to enjoy themselves in many situations.

These cards can run many games in QHD satisfactorily and are generally flawless in FHD.

You can find such cards for around €250.

D Tier Graphics Card Ranking

Finally, here are the currently available D Tier cards. They are suitable for players who want to stick to 1080p and don’t care about playing AAA games under the best conditions from the moment they’re released. In FHD, FPS stays around 60 with some concessions on image quality.

However, if you wish to switch to QHD with these cards, drops are inevitable…

Here, the most quality cards are probably the GTX 1650 for NVidia and the RX 580 for AMD.

Times are tough for graphics card enthusiasts, but with a bit of luck, you can find such cards for around €200.

How to Choose Your Graphics Card

I hope this ranking has helped you get a clearer idea of the current offerings. Of course, these lists are only indicative. They provide a general impression of the products and what one can expect from a card depending on its category. It is difficult to define clear limits, especially for cards that were not released this year.

After consulting this Tier List, your choice should become more refined. To do so, there are several questions to consider.

Don’t Forget Benchmarks and Comparisons

Once you’ve better understood your needs, the best thing to do is to compare the various GPU benchmarks to further refine your choice while setting a clear budget.

What Do You Really Need?

Aside from budget, to choose the right card, you need to clearly know what you plan to use it for. If you’re an online game enthusiast like Valorant, CS2, or Fortnite, your needs will be entirely different from those who only swear by AAA single-player games with ray tracing.

Most of the time, it’s better to opt for an A Tier or B Tier card, allowing you to play almost any game under acceptable conditions.

However, many players could settle for a C Tier card and save quite a bit of money!

Used Graphics Cards in 2024

Finally, note that our Tier List almost exclusively includes very recent cards, which can be found in new retail stores. However, in certain circumstances, you can find used cards that allow for excellent 1080p gaming. Don’t hesitate to do some research if that’s relevant to you. You might find a pleasant surprise.
