If you’ve ever installed one game on Steam, another on Epic Games, and a third via the Game Pass, you know the struggle: juggling multiple launchers just to play your games.

Microsoft’s latest update to the Xbox app for Windows might finally solve that headache. The app now aggregates all your installed games—no matter their source—into a single, unified library. Think of it as a Microsoft-flavored alternative to GOG Galaxy or Playnite, but built directly into the Xbox ecosystem.

The standout feature of the update is the aggregated game library. Once enabled, the Xbox app automatically detects and lists every game installed on your PC, whether it’s from:

  • Xbox Game Pass
  • Steam
  • Epic Games Store
  • Battle.net
  • GOG

All titles appear neatly in the “My Library” tab, complete with an icon showing which platform they belong to. That means no more bouncing between launchers just to find what you want to play.

Prefer a cleaner look? You can toggle off individual stores in the app’s settings if you’d rather not display every source at once.

Another addition is the new “My Apps” tab. This isn’t limited to games—it also lists key software you might use alongside gaming, including:

  • Competing launchers (Steam, Epic, GOG Galaxy, Battle.net)
  • Popular utilities or browsers like Microsoft Edge

The idea is simple: instead of minimizing the Xbox app to open another program, you can access it directly from the same interface. Currently, Microsoft curates which apps appear here, but more will be added over time.

Coming Soon: Unified Play History

Later this month, Microsoft plans to roll out a Play History feature inside the Xbox app. This will show the games you’ve played most recently, whether they were launched on:

  • Your Windows PC
  • The cloud
  • A handheld console running Xbox apps

The history will appear on the app’s home page, letting you jump straight back into your session with a single click. A filter for cloud-ready titles will also be included.

Why It Matters

With these updates, Microsoft is quietly transforming the Xbox app into a true central hub for PC gaming. By combining libraries, apps, and soon play history, it reduces the friction of managing multiple platforms while keeping Xbox at the center of your experience.

It may not replace tools like Playnite for power users, but for anyone already using Game Pass on PC, the Xbox app is quickly becoming a one-stop shop.
